Quoin Financial Bank of Miller and Highmore recently added a life-saving medical device to their business hoping they never have to use it.
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a small electronic device that is designed to allow minimally trained people to provide lifesaving defibrillation (electric shot to the heart) to victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
Laine Warkenthien. Vice President of Quoin Financial Banks, explained an incident on Highmore’s main street last year prompted some thought into what could have possibly been done to change the outcome.
Those thoughts turned to action when Quoin purchased AED’s for both their Miller and Highmore facilities with hopes of being better prepared in case of an emergency.

Fourteen-year-old Jacob Carsten of Kimball, SD, sees a new life for himself after several South Dakota Lions clubs, including Miller’s, helped pay for bioptic glasses, which is a lens system with a miniature telescope mounted in the upper part of an eyeglass lens.
